How to make coconut shell charcoal? Actually, it is a thermal decomposition of biomass waste in an oxygen-free atmosphere. The main equipment involved is charcoal making machine, which can process 500 to 3,000 kg of coconut shells per hour. Also, it is more eco-friendly than traditional charcoal kilns. The whole process includes pre-treatment, feeding, coconut shell pyrolysis, discharging, and de-dusting system. Let’s see how to make charcoal from coconut shell step by step.
1. Pre-treatment
In order to improve the working efficiency, please break the coconut shells into small pieces (smaller than 20 mm). Also, you’d better dry the coconut shells first. The suggested water content is less than 15%, which will influence the charcoal yield. You can buy a crusher and dryer from Beston if necessary.
2. Feeding
The second step is to feed the prepared coconut shells into the charcoal furnace. You can feed manually or use a belt conveyor. If you process sawdust or palm fiber, you may need a scatter as well. Also, you need to choose a non-axis screw feeder. For the different materials, you may need different auxiliary equipment. You can contact Beston for some professional advice.
3. Pyrolysis of Coconut Shell
Beston charcoal making furnace is of double-layer design. It means the outer layer is heated directly, while the inner layer utilizes the residue heat. When the coconut shells are fed in, they will be dried again in the out layer and then be carbonized in the inner layer. When the temperature goes up to 250 ℃, a lot of combustible gas will be generated. Then it will go through cyclone dust remover and condenser to separate tar and wood vinegar out. After that, the combustible gas will be recycled as heating fuel by a draft fan. In general, you can stop using heating fuel in 2 hours. After high-temperature pyrolysis, you can get about 280-330 kg of charcoal from 1,000 kg of coconut shells. In general, the carbonization temperature is from 300 to 600 ℃.
4. Discharging
Beston charcoal machine can feed and discharge at the same time. In general, you can get charcoal 15-20 minutes later after feeding. There is a water cooling system to cool down the charcoal to 30-35 ℃ soon. In order to avoid spontaneous combustion of charcoal, it should be stored in the absence of oxygen.
5. De-dusting System
This system aims to remove the harmful things in the exhaust gas. It mainly includes spray tower, fuel condenser, etc. When the fuel gas goes into the spray tower, solid components like SO2 will be mixed in water and then be collected at the bottom of the desulfurization tower. Then the purified gas can be released into the atmosphere safely. And the liquid waste will be recycled after precipitation and alkaline regeneration. Here is the whole coconut shell charcoal production process.
Remarks
The coconut shell charcoal making process seems difficult. But actually, it is easy to install and operate.
1. It is of continuous design, which can keep working for 5-6 days a week. The whole biochar production process is automatic to lower the working strength. In general, 2-3 workers can run the whole plant safely.
2. The carbonization machine is assembled well before delivery. So it can save your time and money on installation. Below is a test run video of Beston charcoal making machine.
